What is the Microdroplet Lift Microdroplet Lift® technique?
Patented by world-renowned oculofacial surgeon Dr. Kenneth Steinsapir, the Microdroplet Lift® is a revolutionary approach to administering cosmetic botulinum toxin (BOTOX®, Dysport® and Xeomin®) injections for individuals seeking a low-risk, non-invasive forehead lift technique.
Microdroplet Lift® is a scientifically and anatomically-based method of elevating the eyebrow position and softening overactive muscles that pinch the eyebrow. The result is a natural, youthful, rejuvenated appearance that preserves natural forehead movement.
Traditional side effects of this procedure include unnatural frozen foreheads and unmoving faces – obvious indicators that we’ve had a treatment done. But no one wants to look like they’ve had work done, right? The Microdroplet Lift® makes it possible for us to have all the wrinkle softening, brow smoothing, and rejuvenating benefits we love about BOTOX® and other neuromodulators (Dysport®, Xeomin®) without any of these undesirable effects.

How It Works
The Microdroplet Lift® is based on a careful anatomical analysis of the complex ways in which the muscles of the face work together to create natural facial expressions.
While standard botulinum toxin administration techniques involve injecting relatively large quantities of diluted Botox®, Dysport®, or Xeomin® solutions into a small number of isolated treatment sites, including the forehead, the Microdroplet Lift® uses precise placement of tiny microdroplets of botulinum toxin into very precisely-controlled placement pattern at the eyebrow.
By treating the eyebrow muscles responsible for pulling the eyebrow down, it is not necessary to also weaken the muscle that lifts the forehead. Simply by relaxing the eyebrow depressing muscles along the eyebrows, the forehead lines diminish because the muscles of the forehead do not have to work against the brow muscles. The process enables patients to achieve natural brow lift while maintaining normal forehead movement and expressions.
Harness the Power of Cosmetic Botulinum Toxin
The Microdroplet Lift® technique works with all three major brands of cosmetic botulinum toxin:
Botox® is the best known brand of Botulinum Toxin Type A.
Long used in Europe, this product has a safety record that is equivalent to Botox®.
Xeomin® is also a cosmetic botulinum toxin. It was approved for the United States in 2010 and enjoyed almost immediate wide acceptance into the market.
The Scientific and Anatomical Methodology Behind the Microdroplet Lift®
Unlike traditional botulinum toxin treatments that do not precisely control the volume or dose of cosmetic botulinum toxin, Dr. Steinsapir’s Microdroplet Lift® involves multiple injections of very small quantities of botulinum toxin (microdroplets) only into those muscles that depress or pull down on the eyebrows and worry line areas.
Standard injection methods use injections of 0.1 to 0.2 milliliters of cosmetic botulinum toxin at each injection site. Due to the volume of these injections, treatment is sometimes uncomfortable. While this volume may not seem significant, it is enough to cause a problem with unwanted diffuse of the botulinum toxin, which accounts for many unwanted side effects of treatment.
In contrast, the Microdroplet Lift® uses microdroplets of only 0.01 to 0.03 milliliters. This is approximately a tenth of the volume injected at each site compared to standard treatment methods. Even though more injections are used to accomplish treatment, many find that the service is very comfortable due to the tiny volume that is injected at each site. This volume is very precisely placed just below the skin surface where the muscles of facial expression insert into the deep surface of the eyebrow to pinch and furrow the brow.
This small volume and precise depth of treatment limits unwanted diffusion of the cosmetic botulinum toxin solution leading to much more precise treatment effects and almost no side effects related to unintended diffusion of the product. This allows more of the eyebrow depressor muscles to be treated compared to any other method. Unlike standard pan-forehead treatment, the frontalis muscles do not need to be treated, so it is not paralyzed. It is just the eyebrow depressor muscles that are selectively weakened. This means that the frontalis muscle, the muscle responsible for elevating the eyebrows does not need to work as hard to fight the muscles that normally working to pull the eyebrows down. This accounts for why this treatment reduces forehead lines without direct treatment of the frontalis muscle. With the Microdroplet Lift® the resting brow pinch is reduced or eliminated. The eyebrows receive a rejuvenating lift, wrinkles around the eyes and forehead disappear, and the face appears softer and more refreshed and youthful.
